Happy Everything! This month Progressive Pupil’s blog celebrates giving.  You may already have found yourself in the bustle of holiday sales to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones.  Starting today with #GivingTuesday, we encourage you to contribute to a not-for-profit organization that is building the world you need.

Making a contribution of any size empowers you to transform your faith that we can do better into constructive, affirming action.  If this year you have been informed or encouraged by Progressive Pupil’s blog or social media, you believe Black studies is for everybody or if you’re looking forward to seeing our documentary Black and Cuba, I hope you will activate your support by joining our family of donors today.  We currently offer some lovely thank you gifts to our contributors, including free tote bags and t-shirts.

Contrary to popular belief, the work of most grassroots nonprofits is not funded by large foundations or wealthy individuals.  Much like churches and other houses of worship, we depend on people like you to keep our doors open.  Your donations also enable us to remain accountable and grounded to your concerns and interests.  In short, your contributions are how #organizingworks.

Throughout the month, we will highlight a variety of organizations that are working for social change and welcome your participation and support.  I hope you enjoy this season of giving and embrace your power as an everyday philanthropist.  Here’s wishing you peace and joy.

Yours in Solidarity,

Robin J. Hayes, PhD

Principal Organizer
